{"id":11625,"date":"2025-03-21T13:13:53","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T13:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mipa.institute\/?p=11625"},"modified":"2026-04-13T11:35:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:35:47","slug":"environmental-advocacy-in-morocco-challenges-strategies-and-institutional-barriers-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mipa.institute\/?p=11625&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Environmental Advocacy in Morocco : Challenges, Strategies, and Institutional Barriers &#8211; Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Environmental Advocacy in Morocco : Challenges, Strategies, and Institutional Barriers &#8211; Report<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Thi<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">s report, produced by the Moroccan Institute for Policy Analysis (MIPA) in collaboration with Imru Al Qays Talha Jebril<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> explores the landscape of environmental advocacy and mobilization in Morocco, examining its struggles, strategies, and systemic obstacles.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Through fieldwork in Figuig, Rabat, and Meknes, alongside interviews with activists and civil society leaders across Morocco, the report highlights how activists navigate a complex political environment, balancing local mobilization, legal advocacy, and coalition-building while facing financial constraints, and limited access to environmental data.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">It also examines the role of women and youth in advocacy, and how environmental defenders leverage international treaties and decentralized governance efforts to push for change.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">This research is part of DIRAIA project, \u2018Knowledge\u2019 in Arabic, short for &#8220;Developing Inclusive Research through Activism and Informed Advocacy,&#8221; which is a comprehensive initiative addressing the knowledge gap on environmental activism in the MENA region.
