Civil Society as a catalyst for a Just Environmental Transition in Morocco – Report
This report explores the landscape of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Morocco working on environmental issues such as energy transition, food sovereignty, and water security.
The report includes major outcomes from national consultations held in Agadir, Oujda, and Tangier. In total, 100 CSOs were identified and mapped, with data grouped by region, areas of expertise, target populations, and thematic focus. This mapping establishes a baseline for involving local actors in the energy transition and ensuring that marginalized voices are part of decision-making processes.
This report has been conducted within the Just Transition Green Bridge project, a three-year action (2023-2025) implemented by a regional consortium led by the Arab Reform Initiative in collaboration with Alternative Policy Solutions-American University in Cairo, and the Moroccan Institute for Policy Analysis. The initiative is funded by the European Union in the framework of the Civil Society Facility for the Mediterranean, and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
