On the 14-16^th January 2019, the Moroccan Institute for Policy Analysis (MIPA) led a delegation of Moroccan experts, academics and civil society activists to the Hague Expert Meeting that toke place at Leiden University.  MIPA was represented by its director Dr. Mohammed Masbah, as well as two of its associate fellows, Souad Ahmadoun and Sawsene Nejjar. This meeting is part of the Bridging Gaps project that was initiated by the Netherlands Institute in Morocco)  NIMAR(, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Morocco in co-ordination with the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), and MIPA.

In general, the project is intended to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between the Netherlands and Morocco and to find common ground in the field of understanding (de) radicalization and violent extremism. In order to meet the project’s objectives, Moroccan and Dutch experts and academics from the field of policy analysis as well as civil society activists were brought together in this expert meeting so as to discuss the issue of extremism. The central objective of the meeting was to identify lessons learned from different areas of expertise and how they can help improve countering terrorism and violent extremism.
