Brahim Saidy

Dr. Brahim Saidy is an associate professor of diplomacy, security and defense studies at Qatar University. Prior to this, he served as a lecturer in international relations in Canada, especially at Ottawa University and Laval University. He obtained his Ph.D in international relations from the Université du Québec à Montréal in June 2009. He also holds a master’s degree in the same field of studies from Laval University, and a graduate degree in strategic studies and defense policy from the High School of International Relations in Paris. His research interests are in NATO, military strategy, defense policy, civil-military relations in the Arab world, and GCC’s defense cooperation. He worked as a researcher at The Institut québécois des hautes études internationals. In 2010, he has held a research stay as researcher in residence at the NATO Defence College in Rome. He was hosted as a visiting scholar by Foreign Policy Research Institute (Philadelphia, USA), and by Korea Research Institute for Military Affairs (Seoul, South Korea). He also serves as visiting professor at Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College (Doha, Qatar).
